The Second World Seed Conference
The Second World Seed Conference took place in early September 2009 at the FAO Headquarters in Rome, Italy. It was jointly organised by ISF, FAO, ISTA, OECD and UPOV – the five main stakeholders in the field of seed.

Prof M S Swaminathan
Prof M S Swaminathan, winner of the first World Food Prize in 1987, gave the keynote address. The presentations sent a clear message to governments that an enabling environment was needed to advance the seed industry. This was still not the case in many countries around the world.
The résumés of and presentations made by the speakers, the main conclusions from each session of the conference, the general conclusions and the press statement released by the organisers can be found on the conference website (www.worldseedconference.org).
