By using the recommended codes for pathogens companies worldwide use standard terminology when communicating with their customers.
As an aid to seed companies in major vegetable seed producing and non-English speaking countries, the Pathogen Codification Working Group also compiles common names of diseases affecting vegetable crops in Dutch, French, Japanese and Spanish.
These tables are reviewed and updated at regular intervals to verify the correctness of the information provided, add new pathogens to the list, and ensure that users are informed of taxonomic changes to the pathogen name. The date of review is indicated in the heading of the table.
